So I finally headed over to the Dollar Tree to see what kinds of deals I could score, how the coupon process worked, and how the workers liked it.
Well I can tell you one thing, is that each Dollar Tree store varies on what it carries. I didn’t find a lot of the items others were finding at mine. We didn’t carry a lot of name brand, and then most of the items were under weight for what the coupon called for.
I did however find a few things that I was pretty happy about. But the cashier was such a whiney butt. She huffed and puffed, and told me she didn’t understand why people wanted to use coupons when its just a dollar. LOL! She must not have a clue right? I was nice the whole time, and told her how much couponing has helped my family. The bad part is they have to type in each coupon they do not scan. They also have to read each coupon, down to the small print and then check your items like 10 times to make sure. To me its such a hassle, especially when my Dollar Tree always just has 1 lane open and it never fails that when I get in line and start to check out 1000 people line up behind me. I think the Dollar Tree should have upgraded their computers & systems before starting the whole coupon process. I also think they won’t be accepting coupons forever because of the hassle.
Anyways enough with the talking let me show you what I got:
Post Shredded Wheat – $1/1 {8/12 ss} = Free
Nabisco Snacks – $1/2 {8/5 rp} = $1 for 2
Fruit Snacks $.75/2 {9/9 ss} = $1.25 for 2
I spent a total of $2.58 & saved $5.75. Not to bad since we can always stock up on snacks for school

I went to 2 of my local dollar trees and on the first trip I got 7 Efferdent for free, and today i got 2 Colgate toothpaste for free. I have to say i agree with once you get in line everyone seems to follow lol. But the 2 trips i made the cashier’s were not bad they didn’t whine one was cheerful and apologized to me because i was her first customer with coupons and she wasnt sure to scan or type them in, I really think they should of trained them first, as well as upgrading their system. I also found that they dont carry a wide range of name brand items but it look liked they were beginning too as a bunch of boxes were all over as they were filling the shelves. I am going to try another Dollar tree today to see if i can get the rest of my efferdent and toothpaste.
I totally agree with you. My Dollar Tree visit was horrible. Cashier did not know they accepted coupons..showed her policy that I brought…did not believe me…called manager…in the meantime…she was only cashier and line was to the back of store…so now we have other mad customers. And to top it off…they only had 2 products that I had coupons for…cereal..and they were small boxes at that. All that hassle for 2 small boxes of cereal…am thinking not worth the trip at all.
My experience was the same.
I don’t think I’ll bother again.
Have you guys had problems with them accepting “dollar off” coupons? My dollar tree (which claims to be the “largest in the state”) says they cannot accept “dollar off” coupons. Although that is NOT in the coupon policy. I would have argued it but I had my cranky 2 year old and a line behind me. I emailed Dollartree.com about it a week ago and haven’t heard back…surprise.
