I have to say – shopping at a large wholesale club isn’t always the best way to save. After all you probably end up saving more by buying at the grocery stores so that you can use more coupons instead of using 1 coupon on a 10pk at a club.
But reader Kimberly thinks otherwise! She contacted me letting me know how much she saved at BJ’s Wharehouse! I have to say I was pretty impressed at her savings

I love shopping at BJ’s Wholesale Club especially with coupons. BJ’s has several ways to save that most people don’t know about. They have flyers just inside the store with coupons, they have printable coupons online at www.bjs.com and, (to members) they send out 1 if not 2 books with coupons in them each month. In the big book with coupons, they have great deals for saving big when you buy so many participating products that are listed on that page. Then, as if that wasn’t already good enough, they let you stack manufacturer coupons. But there’s still one thing that makes me love shopping at BJ’s even more……..you can use multiple coupons on bulk items!
What do I mean using multiple coupons on bulk items??? Well, when you shop at a wholesale club you’re buying multiples of the same item. You can use a coupon for each visible barcode (((USUALLY))). So for example, if you’re buying liquid creamer, usually you get a pack of two at a wholesale club, so you can use two manufacturer coupons on top of any store coupons. Once you figure out the system it’s pretty easy to save money when shopping in bulk.
So with having gone over all the coupon options for shopping at BJ’s, let me show you how I saved on my latest trip… I’m just going to list everything I bought and the coupons that I used for all.

My Total with tax was $425.76 (plus the $2.00 in instant rebates that we’re taken off instantly which would have made the total $427.76)
After coupons I paid $324.01….I saved $103.75!!!! Not bad for a wholesale club.
